AND WE’RE BACK!

Dear Caroline,

I’m all better now. Got a little cough but that’s nothing compared to what I experienced. Being sick away from home is not fun.

My German classes are ok, I missed quite a lot so I hope I can catch up. After class I had some time to waste before going to the Reichstag with my friends. I went to the Memorial for Murdered Jews. I was too late for the walking tour but it was nice to sit in the park and reflect, the sun was coming down which made it very peaceful and solemn.

As the sun set more in the sky I headed to Brandenburg Gate, probably the most famous place in Berlin other than the tv tower. It’s quite the icon. When Berlin was split into East and West, the East side had ownership of the Gate.

I met up with Emilie, Jade, and Karla at the Reichstag and we went up to the dome. The Reichstag is the parliament building for German. Kinda like Capitol Hill. In some parts of the building you can see remnants of the war like bullet holes and blast cracks. It’s interesting to be standing somewhere where so much history happened.

Still getting back on my feet after being sick, gonna take it easy this weekend.
