ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN

What song makes me happy….? Now that’s a tough one cause there are so many to choose from. After a bit of reflection, Absolutely Smitten fit the bill perfectly. I’m rather a new fan of dodie’s but I am so happy to have her on the roster. Her writing is so honest and conversational that you feel she’s your best friend and you’re just having a girls night. Her songs are so relatable that when listening I feel like it’s my own conscience singing to me.

What stands out in Absolutely Smitten is it’s a fun song without all the club banging bass and synths. It’s a campfire-sing-song-ukulele-all-together-now ditty. I’ve even built a little story around it.

The song opens with an energetic ukulele strum and crowd sounds. Every time I hear it, I picture myself at a family gathering or house party where there’s a perfectly placed uke just magically there, I pick it up and play. With a fun loving and charismatic spirit I sing and dance around, feeding off the audience's energy, and have them join in. Very troubadour-like.

Everyone is having fun. Everyone is dancing. Singing.
