BAGUETTES & CROISSANTS

Dear Caroline,

It’s been a week now at this third (and last) host. Even with her rules, I am making it work. I’m out exploring a bit more, definitely trying some new restaurants. my two favourites are Mr. Mathieu and Maison Celine. Mr. Mathieu is a sandwich shop that only makes baguette sandwiches. Their most famous is the Mr. Poulet, it is amazing. Crispy baguette, roast chicken, butter, herbs, dijon mustard, and gruyere cheese, all melty and delicious.

What more can you ask! I wen’t there a lot, especially when I knew dinner would be questionable. my other favourite place is Maison Celine, which is a pâtisserie. They have this amazing smoked salmon sandwich on a perfectly crispy and buttery croissant-like brioche bun with cream cheese, poppyseeds and lettuce. You could get it as a “formule” which included a drink and a dessert. I would always get the organic iced tea and a slice of flan as my dessert. It was the best and my most coveted lunch. I went there a lot, too much even.

I was able to check out some of the museums in Nice. There aren’t that many like in Rome or Berlin, but it did have a big Modern Art Museum and I’ve never been to see wonder art before. There was some pretty cool pieces, once that really caught my eye was the sliced up cello. Not quite sure what the artist was trying to say but cool nonetheless.

Only one week left in Nice before I arrive in Paris. I will make the best of this week and dream of better days in Paris.
